What i Do
Function
The first and most important part of the design is determining the function: how do you want to use your yard? Do you want a vegetable garden? Do you need more entertaining space? Finding the right function for your space is my priority.
Hardscape
The hardscape is the structure of your yard. Patios, walkways, walls, pergolas, outdoor kitchens…these define the outdoor areas that allow the space to function well for you and your family.
Planting
Grass, trees, shrubs, flowers….this is the fun part, where the landscape starts to come alive. I evaluate which plants are best suited to the various parts of the landscape, and select plants for both beauty and utility.
What is the process?
Here is how a typical design process starts: The client submits a questionnaire answering basics questions about what they are looking for. We determine which type of design is best for that particular project, and then schedule a video meeting. Click here for the questionnaire.
HOURLY CONSULTATIONS: These can be booked directly with me. Contact me for available times.
SAME-DAY DESIGN: Client has the option to send me a drawing, satellite image, or plot plan of their yard before we meet. During the design session, I draw sketches of the design. I provide written dimensions where applicable. I also provide plant lists and spacing, as needed. Sketches and notes are emailed to the client. I provide tips for installation, maintenance and upkeep, and working with a contractor. During installation (and after), I am available to answer any questions that may arise.
FULL-SERVICE DESIGN: We start with an initial hourly consultation. (This service is included in the price of the full design.) After the consultation, the client gathers information about the project (such as measurements, photos, etc.), and I start working on the hardscape design. We communicate back and forth (mostly through WhatsApp), fine tuning the hardscape until the client is satisfied with the design. Then we move on to adding plants, following the same pattern. Finally, a hard copy of the hand-drawn finished plan is delivered to the client, including tips for installation, maintenance and upkeep, and working with a contractor. During installation (and after), I am available to answer any questions that may arise.
