Hi, I’m Helena Hart.
Having lived in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Missouri, Connecticut, and Michigan, I decided to pursue e-design, so that I could help clients in various parts of the country. I love the process of creating a landscape that is lush and green. If this is your vision, I would love to help!
my approach
At Hedge and Spade, I focus on creating lush, green spaces for landscapes throughout the U.S., including the Arizona low desert. My goal is to create designs that are functional and beautiful, using plants that are appropriate to the area.
I am a plant lover! I admit, I read books about plants like they are novels. Because of this and my experiences living in different parts of the country, I feel confident helping people throughout the U.S.
For those of you in the Phoenix area: I have a deep knowledge of the plants that can survive in our climate. Some of the plants I use are less common, and therefore can provide a different style than might be present at every other house on your street. I spend a great deal of time working to find the right plant for the right place—which is harder than it sounds!

As a designer, I focus on finding out how you want to live in your landscape. Do you entertain frequently? Do you have young children or pets? Do you use your yard year round, or only during the milder seasons? The answers to these questions drive the design of your landscape to ensure that it functions for you and your family.
